Why GIRL TALK?

Girls start out with big dreams, ideas of changing the world, making their mark. Over time, their confidence is undermined by the media, the advertising world, parents, peers and their own inner voices. They succumb to peer pressure to fit in. They participate in gossip and intimidation. They stand back and let others take the lead. They let others define their self-worth.

7 in 10 girls believe that they are not good enough or don’t measure up in some way, including their looks, performance in school and relationships with friends and family members. We're changing that!

"GIRL TALK" Curriculum, a 10-week (pre-recorded) video and mentor driven program targets pressures young girls are facing such as girl-on-girl drama, online harassment, digital safety, lack of confidence, maintaining positive friendships and negative self-image issues. The tools/skills learned in each “Girl Talk” lesson contribute to girls becoming more confident with higher self-esteem and motivated to become role models and leaders of their generation. GIRL TALK's interactive and relatable approach leaves girls energized and walking away with a positive mindset of emotional, and mental well-being rooted in her self-worth ~ Girl Talks are designed for smaller groups of girls (max 30). These smaller settings enable girls to bond while they participate in discussion, a hands on activity and creative doodle/journaling.

In 2016 GIRL TALK's 10 week curriculum made it's debut in Ohio's Massillon ISD. Today GIRL TALK Curriculum has extended to Texas, Illinois and Ohio. Since the beginning, Girls Above Society has reached over 50,000 girls in the U.S. and Africa. After several years of collecting data and perfecting GIRL TALK lessons, we are excited to reach school districts and organizations throughout the U.S. Studies show that self-esteem peaks in young girls at age 9. We're extending those statistics and we've only just begun!
