CAMP SUSAN CURTIS
EMPOWERING GIRLS TO BE CONFIDENT
Lauren shares her signature "GIRL TALK" program with the girls each summer in Maine at Camp Susan Curtis. The mission of CSC & Girls Above Society align with a postive synergy that gives girls a unique "Girl Power" experience during their camp session. Each cabin participates in a GIRL TALK created especially for their age group. Lauren's program addresses pressures young girls face in today's media driven society. Leadership and confidence are stressed during these workshops and provide a boost of self-esteem and confidence that will resonate with these girls throughout their lives.
The programs of Camp Susan Curtis have been transforming the lives of Maine children-in-need since 1974. Each year, hundreds of vulnerable Maine boys and girls learn 21st Century competencies like effective communication, problem-solving and teamwork from specially-trained positive adult role models. In a residential environment of safety and acceptance, at-risk children broaden their overall capacity to learn while creating a permanent foundation for lifelong achievement. In doing so, they transform their perspectives on life and learning, and redefine their futures.
At Camp Susan Curtis, we believe that every child matters. Over the past 40 years, we've worked to level the playing field for over 15,000 economically disadvantaged Maine kids: of long-term participants who have completed leadership training, 95% graduate from high school (compared to 73% of low-income students statewide), while 8 out of 10 go on to some form of higher education.
